The exhibition of Marjane Satrapi adds another page to the work of the Council in the pursuit of art and the contemporary.

It seems important to emphasise how the discussion started four years ago, with the Peshawar exhibition of Chiara Dynys, developed a productive dialogue with the creative energy of the city and a coherent project route of enquiry, but which also took root in the area, on how much art is moving ahead in relation to themes and crucial subjects concerning contemporary history.

This year the exhibition and seminar open another chapter in this story. It seems important to note how much comics have given this city in recent years. The ninth art has found a spokesman able in dealing with local government but mostly with the public.

Since the event presented here is a part of a series of presentations and promotion of young local artists, our wish is that they find inspiration and stimuli to make their work even more interesting and significant.
